A home designed as a summer retreat for a couple.
The client requested a fluid space in which the living room, kitchen, and bedroom would sit very close to one another yet remain clearly distinct. Our solution stems from an equilateral triangle, positioning the rooms consecutively along each of its sides.
The bathroom—lit by a roof skylight—is placed at the center of the house together with the minimal services and storage.
The home’s strength lies in its south-facing orientation, with the living room and main entrance on that side. This allows natural light to bathe every room throughout the day, starting with the bedroom and ending with the kitchen at sunset.
Thanks to its superb location in the heart of a pine forest near Lousame, privacy was not a major constraint. The result is a “glass” house that maximizes the occupants’ connection with the woodland they inhabit.
